Job summary

Neya Systems / ARA seeks a Senior Autonomy Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of autonomy capabilities across unmanned ground vehicle platforms. Hybrid role with three days onsite at Warrendale, PA.

You will mentor engineers and drive performance improvements across perception, planning, controls, and embedded software. As a senior contributor, you will coordinate cross-disciplinary efforts, conduct design and code reviews, and engage with customers and program managers to

Qualifications

• Degree in robotics, computer science, or engineering required.
• 3+ years of experience developing autonomy or robotics systems (UGVs preferred).
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for real-time robotics applications.
• Strong understanding of autonomy subsystems (planning, controls, navigation, or sensor fusion).
• Hands-on experience with sensors (LIDAR, cameras, GPS/INS, radar) and hardware integration.
• Experience with software design, debugging, and performance analysis.
• Ability to work independently and communicate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of autonomy algorithms, behaviors, and components.
• Integrate autonomy software with robotic platforms and sensor suites.
• Drive investigations, root-cause analyses, and performance optimizations.
• Lead field tests and evaluate autonomy behavior.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, controls, and systems engineering teams.
• Serve as technical point of contact for customers and program managers.
• Conduct design and code reviews; contribute to standards.
• Mentor junior engineers in autonomy development.
• Support customer demos, experiments, and technical events.
• Travel 10-25% depending on testing and project needs.
