Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced Software Autonomy engineer to own control and autonomy algorithms within the VBAT code base. This full lifecycle role covers algorithm design, software development, unit and integration tests, and flight software qualification and flight test support.

You will also help update and validate simulation models and collaborate across teams to ensure high-quality software for unmanned aerial systems in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years with a Master’s, or a PhD.
• Proven track record of shipping products and delivering high-quality solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; user-centric software focus.
• Experience with control systems, unmanned aerial systems and/or robotics.
• Outer loop path planning / trajectory synthesis.
• Integrating software in a hierarchical environment.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain control and autonomy algorithms in the VBAT code base.
• Full lifecycle development: algorithm design, software coding, testing, and flight software qualification.
• Update and validate simulation models as required.
• Support flight tests and qualification activities.
