Job summary

Axiom Path is seeking a Senior Site Quality Engineer for our automotive manufacturing client in Columbus, IN. The role focuses on dimensional quality and emissions-control technologies, collaborating with manufacturing, engineering, and operations to strengthen processes and product reliability.

You will apply APQP, PPAP, and core quality tools, interpret engineering drawings with GD&T, and guide continuous improvement initiatives on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• 2–5 years of manufacturing quality engineering experience, preferably automotive or high-volume production.
• Strong working knowledge of GD&T, APQP, PPAP, VDA FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
• Experience applying IATF 16949 requirements.
• Practical experience interpreting engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and inspection results.
• Familiarity with dimensional metrology tools and software, particularly PolyWorks.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate quality defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve process consistency.
• Ensure processes and quality documentation align with IATF 16949 and automotive standards.
• Apply APQP, PPAP, and core tools to support production readiness and control plans.
• Interpret drawings with GD&T to evaluate conformity and tolerances.
• Use PolyWorks and other metrology tools for 3D inspection and part validation.
• Conduct 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa root-cause investigations.
• Perform SPC, MSA, and Gage R&R studies to assess process capability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, engineering, and quality teams on corrective actions.
• Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce scrap and variation.
