Job summary

Lorien in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Platform Security Engineer to design and implement advanced security for automotive platforms. The role focuses on hardware- and firmware-backed security, trust at boot, and protection of vehicle access across hardware and software layers.

You'll collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and product teams to deliver proofs of concept and scalable defenses, from concept through deployment, for a 6-month contract with possible extension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or engineering.
• 6-8+ years of engineering experience in related domains.
• Strong background in firmware/embedded software near hardware.
• Deep understanding of secure boot, root of trust, and TEEs.
• Proficiency in C and C++ development.
• Experience with microcontrollers, SoCs, and security-focused hardware.
• Knowledge of cryptography, authentication, and secure provisioning.
• Experience designing security for automotive or connected devices.
• Familiarity with bootloaders, embedded Linux, and platform init.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop security technologies for vehicle access.
• Create security solutions from hardware to firmware levels.
• Drive projects from concept to deployment and validation.
• Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and product teams.
• Design platform capabilities for device identity, trusted execution, and cryptography.
• Investigate attack methods and develop defenses for vehicle systems.
• Evaluate bypass, clone, replay, or manipulation risks and countermeasures.
• Develop PoC solutions and advanced prototypes for automotive security.
• Contribute to long-term platform security architecture decisions.
• Tackle complex challenges at hardware-software-cryptography intersection.
