Job summary

The State Equipment Fleet within the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities in Fairbanks is seeking a Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to help Keep Alaska Moving. You will professionally maintain heavy and light vehicles used in road and rural airport maintenance and diagnose complex equipment problems, including transmissions, drive trains, engines, and braking systems.

Paid CDL training is offered for qualified applicants, with occasional travel to remote sites.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines, tools, and repair techniques.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain heavy- and light-duty equipment for road and airport maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair complex systems including transmissions, drivetrains, engines, hydraulics, and braking.
• Perform routine and specialized maintenance to ensure vehicle readiness.
