Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Hardware Engineer in Detroit, MI to lead the design and validation of automotive embedded hardware. You will drive requirements analysis, schematic capture, board layout, and EMC/thermal analyses while coordinating with cross‑functional teams and customers.

You will guide a small hardware team, ensure regulatory and IPC compliance, and support APQP and launch cycles with a focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or related field.
• 5+ years in automotive embedded hardware product design.
• Proven ability to lead a small hardware team.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout; Cadence is a plus.
• Experience with automotive comms buses LIN/CAN and ISO concepts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and derive hardware design criteria using Codebeamer.
• Lead design, prototyping, and validation of automotive hardware.
• Communicate with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of design commitments.
• Present engineering deliverables in core team meetings.
• Apply WCCA, thermal, EMC analyses to optimize hardware designs.
• Ensure DFX coverage (DFM, DFA, DFC, DFT, DFR) for targets.
• Maintain component libraries and support design reuse across programs.
• Integrate LIN and CAN into embedded hardware designs.
