Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services seeks a senior hardware engineer to lead automotive electronic hardware development from concept to production. You will translate customer requirements into hardware architecture, design analog/digital/power circuits, and guide PCB layout with a focus on signal integrity and reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with MCU interfaces, power-management designs, automotive interfaces (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in automotive hardware design.
  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, processors, memories, sensors, and interfaces.
  • Design power-management circuits including DC-DC converters, LDOs, protection, and sequencing.
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, and related physical-layer circuits.
  • Experience with schematic-capture and PCB-design tools (Altium, Cadence, Mentor, Zuken).
  • Circuit simulation tools such as LTspice, PSpice, HyperLynx, or equivalents.
  • Understanding of high-speed PCB design, SI/PI, grounding, shielding.
  • Lab instrumentation including oscilloscopes, analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers.
  • Knowledge of automotive EMC/ESD and environmental requirements.
  • Familiarity with AEC-Q100/AEC-Q200.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automotive electronic hardware development from concept through production.
  • Translate requirements into hardware architecture, schematics, and detailed designs.
  • Design analog, digital, power, communication, sensor-interface circuits.
  • Perform component selection considering performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Review PCB placement, routing, stack-up, grounding, thermal management, SI/PI.
  • Conduct circuit simulations, worst-case and tolerance analyses, power budgeting.
  • Lead hardware design reviews and close technical findings.
  • Maintain BOM and obsolescence management.
  • Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and validation.
  • Define hardware verification plans, test specs, acceptance criteria, and reports.
  • Support EMC/ESD/transient, environmental, vibration and reliability testing.
  • Investigate design issues using root-cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with system, software, mechanical, validation, manufacturing, supplier teams.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing/testability/reliability and production-launch activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and offshore teams.
  • Support technical discussions, estimates, planning, and customer reviews.
