Job summary

Slate is seeking a seasoned Controls & Automation Engineer to help build and refine production systems in Warsaw, Indiana. You will design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and safety circuits for General Assembly operations, driving improvements in safety, quality, and throughput.

With 8+ years in automotive controls, you will lead automation initiatives, mentor technicians, and collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to deliver

Qualifications

• 8+ years in controls, automation, or mechatronics in automotive/manufacturing.
• Proven success with General Assembly automation, equipment launch and optimization.
• Start-up or greenfield experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, integration, and optimization of automated systems within SPS.
• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision, and safety circuits.
• Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of automation issues.
• Support layout development, equipment selection, tooling integration, and material-flow automation.
• Lead continuous improvement for cycle-time reduction, uptime, and cost savings.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain on automation strategies.
• Support New Product Introduction with PFMEAs and workstation logic.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, electrical schematics, and standards.
