Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to design electrical panels, software for automation, and robotics integrations. You will develop schematics with ECAD, create BOMs, and program controls for advanced manufacturing equipment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, prototype and test systems, and support installation, commissioning, and continuous improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in electrical/software design for automation, robotics, or industrial equipment.
• Proficient with ECAD and automation software suites; able to implement new automation tech.
• Experience with PLCs and coding for Siemens, Beckhoff, and Rockwell platforms.
• Strong machine design, motion systems, and pneumatic actuation knowledge.
• Experience with manufacturing processes like machining and welding.
• Experience with robotic systems and system integration.
• Knowledge of safety and ergonomic standards for industrial automation.
• Excellent communication and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical panels and software for automation equipment, including tooling and robotics.
• Create schematics and diagrams using ECAD tools.
• Develop BOMs, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Program and configure controls and automation devices out of the box.
• Design and integrate robotic systems, including external axes.
• Provide production support to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Ensure designs meet requirements, safety codes, and manufacturability standards.
• Participate in reviews, prototyping, testing, and system integration.
• Support fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Research and apply new devices to improve system performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Contribute to reliability and efficiency initiatives through automation roadmaps.
