Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead PLC/HMI-based automation projects, develop secure control system architectures, and support commissioning and startup activities across North America. The role emphasizes OT networking, cybersecurity, and adherence to industry standards.

You will work in a hybrid model and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust automation solutions for electrification projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
5–8 years of industrial automation experience.
Proficiency in PLC and HMI development on major platforms.
Experience designing, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting automation systems.

Responsibilities

Lead PLC programming and automation development (ABB, Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Schneider).
Design HMIs, control logic, alarms, trends, and system integration.
Specify and implement industrial networks and protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, DNP3, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
Develop secure control system architectures with OT cybersecurity best practices.
Support testing, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and customer-site deployments.
Travel up to 30–35% as needed.
