Job summary

LOOP Marine Terminal in Cut Off, LA seeks an Automation Specialist to design, program, test, and commission instrumentation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs, flow computers, PID loops) to support operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least five years in automation and project management, with field presence up to 50%. Competitive pay, health benefits, and a 401(k) plan are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Engineering Technology (Electrical, Automation, Control Systems, etc.), Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in automation, instrumentation, and project management.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and failure analysis with emphasis on PLC, HMI, Flow Computer, and PID Control loops.

Responsibilities

• Provide input into LOOP’s Technology strategy and equipment lifecycle replacement.
• Support engineering projects with instrumentation and control system requirements.
• Manage projects within the Instrumentation and Controls group.
• Provide high level technical support for Maintenance, Operations, SCADA, and related teams.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems and develop/configure DAC/controls and communications.
• Develop secured data interfacing configuration for internal/external customers.
• Interface with OT network engineers and have familiarity with OT cybersecurity concepts.
• Calibrate and program instrumentation and control devices (transmitters, densitometers, etc.).
• Support MOC processes for instrumentation and control devices.
