Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim Puerto Rico seeks a Principal Engineer, Automation to design, program, and support site automation and production equipment. You will lead capital projects, implement system modifications, and ensure reliability across plant services, engineering, and maintenance teams.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or control systems and hands-on experience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and building automation. On-site collaboration and cross-functional leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Control Systems field with four years of experience.
• Integrator level capability in low voltage controls, sensors, IO modules, fieldbus and networking.
• PLC programming including ladder, function block and structured text.
• RSLogix experience is preferred; HMI/SCADA systems knowledge; FactoryTalk View preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages capital and expense projects for site automation improvements.
• Maintains building automation systems and lifecycle management.
• Researches and evaluates potential automation projects for feasibility.
• Provides data and proposals to guide site investment strategy.
• Leads root cause analysis and CAPA for automation topics.
