Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to own the automation/controls scope for Drug Product optical inspection and device assembly. You will lead end-to-end automation delivery, review designs, and coordinate with suppliers and site teams to ensure compliant, verifiable systems.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in pharma automation, strong PLC/SCADA/HMI and vision systems experience, and familiarity with cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and MES

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or related field.
• Minimum 6 years progressive automation/controls engineering in pharma or biopharma.
• Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA/HMI, ISA-95/ISA-88 standards, and data integrity.
• Experience with OEMs/system integrators, FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification, and change control.
• Knowledge of validated environments (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11) and MES integration.

Responsibilities

• Own automation/controls scope for Drug Product optical inspection and device assembly.
• Lead end-to-end automation delivery from concept through commissioning and start-up.
• Review and validate automation designs, narratives, and interface definitions.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC/HMI, motion, robotics, and vision systems.
• Coordinate with vendors, CSV, OT, MES and site teams to ensure integrated systems.
• Provide readiness for regulatory inspections and ensure data traceability.
