Job summary

Matrix Technologies, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to design, develop and optimize control systems across multiple industries in a hybrid role. You will lead projects, write DCS/PLC code, create HMI graphics, and coordinate with clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of controls experience, strong knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. Overtime eligibility and a competitive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Minimum six years of controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting and start-up experience.
• Knowledge of continuous batching processes and controls is a plus.
• Experience with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Modbus TCP/IP protocols.
• Ability to travel approximately 15-25%, both locally and overnight.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow industry, Matrix, and client safety practices and procedures. Help supervise and direct the safety issues of the site team.
• Lead the project team through the software development process for DCS/PLC based control systems.
• Develop functional specifications, project test specifications, DCS/PLC code, and HMI graphics.
• Lead the preparation of scopes of work, design concepts, and cost estimates.
• Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines to coordinate designs.
