Job summary

PACIV is seeking a Senior Industrial Automation & Controls Engineer in Indianapolis, IN to lead design, development, integration, and commissioning of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS solutions across multiple industries. This client-facing role focuses on delivering complete automation solutions from concept through startup and ongoing engineering leadership.

The role is project-based, not maintenance, offering strong technical growth and collaboration with experienced professionals.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline or equivalent automation experience.
10+ years of industrial automation, controls engineering, or PLC/SCADA engineering experience with demonstrated project leadership through design to commissioning.
Experience serving as a technical lead and client-facing engineering resource.
Strong PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
Experience developing HMI and SCADA applications and industrial networking knowledge.
Experience performing FAT, SAT, startup and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

Lead full lifecycle automation projects from design through commissioning.
Design and architect PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS solutions.
Develop and program Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC systems.
Create HMI/SCADA applications using Ignition, Wonderware, iFIX, FactoryTalk, WinCC.
Maintain specifications, I/O lists, network drawings, and technical docs.
Lead system integration and ensure seamless communication across control systems.
Oversee FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning activities.
Act as primary technical contact for clients and stakeholders.
Troubleshoot complex control issues and perform root cause analysis.
Establish programming standards and reusable code libraries.
