This is a hybrid position (2-3 days on site in Cincinnati, Ohio).

A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join their Cincinnati team. What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and commission industrial automation systems from concept through startup
  • Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Ignition
  • Design and integrate complete control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, networking, safety systems, and field devices
  • Work directly with clients to gather requirements and develop tailored automation solutions
  • Lead and manage multiple projects while ensuring quality, timelines, and customer expectations are met
  • Travel to customer sites for commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and support (typically 20–35%)
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth of the automation team
What Theyre Looking For
  • 5–7+ years of industrial automation or controls engineering experience
  • Experience working for a systems integrator, automation OEM, or engineering consulting firm strongly preferred
  • Strong experience designing and developing PLC/HMI applications using Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms
  • Experience commissioning and integrating complete industrial automation systems
  • Experience working directly with customers in a project-based engineering environment
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field)
Nice to Have
  • Experience with multiple automation platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, FactoryTalk, etc.)
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience with robotics, machine vision, motion control, industrial networking, or safety systems
  • Experience supporting customers across multiple industries or manufacturing environments
