Job summary

United Pharma in Arizona is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to provide technical leadership, hands-on automation support, and manufacturing engineering expertise in a fast-paced production environment. You will lead automation projects, troubleshoot equipment, develop validation documents, and drive Lean and continuous improvement across plant operations.

This role collaborates with cross-functional teams, develops scopes, schedules, and cost estimates, and mentors junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance and improvement of automated manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with electromechanical systems, pneumatics, servos, PLCs and schematics.
• Strong RCA and corrective-action experience.
• Experience with project scoping, scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimation.
• Experience with automation-line quoting and design concept development.
• Experience preparing validation docs, URS, equipment specs, and related engineering docs.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• CAD and SAP experience preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
• Manufacturing supervisory or management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver technical training covering electromechanical systems, pneumatics, servos, PLCs, schematics, and emerging technologies.
• Lead high-visibility automation projects and develop project scopes, schedules, savings estimates, and cost estimates.
• Prepare validation documents, URS, equipment specifications, and other engineering documentation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and automation partners.
• Provide engineering support to optimize plant machinery, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, regulatory, and company requirements.

• Experience preparing validation documentation, URS, equipment specifications, and engineering documents.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
