We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that enhance production efficiency and ensure high-quality output. Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer - Systems & Automation is responsible for improving manufacturing processes through the development, implementation, and support of automation, manufacturing systems, equipment, and data-driven solutions. This position works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, IT, and other stakeholders to improve safety, quality, productivity, capacity, and cost.

The Manufacturing Engineer will identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve manufacturing systems, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and implement sustainable solutions using Lean Manufacturing and 6S principles.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and support manufacturing automation and process-control solutions.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual, repetitive, or non-value-added processes.
• Support PLCs, HMIs, sensors, robotics, vision systems, and other automated equipment.
• Integrate manufacturing equipment with ERP, MES, data collection, and other production systems.
• Troubleshoot system, equipment, and process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support equipment startups, commissioning, upgrades, and modifications.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, equipment standards, and operating procedures.
• Analyze manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, throughput, efficiency, and cost.
• Use Lean Manufacturing, 6S, standard work, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Identify and eliminate waste, bottlenecks, downtime, and process variation.
• Develop and implement process improvements using data and manufacturing metrics.
• Establish process capability, cycle-time standards, and performance requirements.
• Support capital projects and equipment improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of manufacturing, engineering, automation, controls, or systems experience; internships/co-op experience may be considered.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, process documentation, and equipment manuals.
• Develop sustainable processes and standard work.
• Support the culture of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, continuous improvement, and employee development.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, machine vision, sensors, or industrial controls.
• Experience with manufacturing systems such as MES, ERP, SCADA, or production data-collection systems.
• Experience with SQL, Power BI, Python, or other data-analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S, Kaizen, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software.
• Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols.
• Project management or automation implementation experience.

Environment:

• Primarily works in a manufacturing/industrial environment with time spent on the production floor.
• May be required to work around manufacturing equipment, machinery, noise, heat, and other industrial conditions.
• Must follow all required PPE, safety, and facility procedures.
• Occasional travel may be required for equipment suppliers, training, installations, or other business needs.
