Worthington Enterprises, Inc. seeks an experienced Senior Project Engineer to provide technical leadership at our Jefferson, Ohio manufacturing facility, delivering electrical, controls, automation, and capital-project initiatives.

You will guide stand-alone and large projects, manage scopes and schedules, collaborate with maintenance and contractors, and own safety, quality, and cost outcomes from design through startup. This hands-on role emphasizes execution and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering, controls engineering, automation, project engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, troubleshoot, and improve PLC-based control systems and related electrical/automation equipment.
• Proven experience independently leading engineering projects or significant technical ownership of complex automation initiatives, with vendor/contractor coordination.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, automation equipment, electrical schematics, machine design, and safety practices.
• Ability to develop technical specifications, evaluate engineering solutions, perform root-cause analysis, and make decisions with limited supervision.
• Strong project-management, organizational, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills; CAD and project-scheduling proficiency.
• Knowledge of blueprints, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, and safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical, controls, automation, equipment, and process-improvement projects from concept through design, capital approval, installation, commissioning, startup, and acceptance.
• Develop project scopes, objectives, technical specs, engineering designs, cost estimates, budgets, schedules, ROI justifications, and risk-management plans.
• Present project proposals, financial justifications, progress, metrics, risks, and results to plant management and stakeholders.
• Coordinate work with maintenance, contractors, installation crews, equipment manufacturers, and integrators for safe, accurate execution.
• Provide site oversight, update schedules, and coordinate activities during downtime, installation, and startup events.
• Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and performance validation; ensure safety, cost, and quality accountability.
• Design, specify, evaluate, and implement industrial electrical/automation-control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, servo, motion-control, industrial-network).
• Develop electrical schematics, control-panel designs, component specs, functional specs, control narratives, and documentation.
• Lead control-system integration, upgrades, modernization, obsolescence-planning initiatives.
• Evaluate automation technologies, equipment designs, supplier proposals, and integrator solutions for safe, reliable improvements.
• Collaborate with IT/OT teams on industrial network architecture and cybersecurity.
• Ensure designs/installations comply with electrical codes and machine-safety standards.
• Troubleshoot production equipment; support production, maintenance, sales, and training; identify cost-savings.
