Job summary

Progressive Machine and Design is seeking a Lead Automation Controls Software Engineer for custom automation projects. You will lead programming, debugging, and site installation, while guiding a team of engineers and ensuring code reliability across multiple projects.

You will review customer requirements, work with PMD’s proposals and cost estimates, and participate in factory and site acceptance tests. Strong leadership and hands-on control system experience are essential.

Qualifications

Education: BS in EE, EET, Mechatronics, or related engineering field; or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Experience: 10+ years with 3+ of PLC, HMI, robot, vision, industrial protocols, or technical supervision.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: strong communication, reading/ interpreting technical procedures, analytical and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Lead controls programming, debugging, and site installation of turnkey custom automation equipment.
Train new and less senior engineers and set technical direction on portions of larger projects.
Peer review work for accuracy; develop overall machine controls software architecture; ensure code commonality across engineers.
Participate in factory and site acceptance tests; review customer requirements and PMD cost estimates.
Program/controller I/O and sequencing from engineering diagrams and timing charts; commission hardware and debug hardware and software.
