Job summary

Blue Origin’s Factory Automation team seeks an Automation Controls Engineer to design, build, and deploy automated manufacturing solutions across our facilities. You will drive control architectures, from concept through commissioning, applying first principles to solve novel challenges and delivering scalable manufacturing capabilities.

You will collaborate across R&D, design, build, and installation teams, overseeing simulations, debugging, and startup of systems while documenting operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls, or related engineering field.
• 4+ years hands-on experience in industrial controls and automation systems, including PLC/HMI programming.
• Exposure to automation platforms: robots, conveyors, CNC integration, or process tools.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings; knowledge of safety system design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with applications engineers on conceptual automated manufacturing equipment and contribute controls architecture input.
• Design and support control system architectures including network topology, I/O distribution, safety systems, and communication protocols.
• Participate in industrial controls and electrical design of bespoke automation systems; apply first principles to diagnose and solve issues.
• Develop offline simulations to validate control logic, robot paths, cycle times, and system behavior pre-hardware.
• Support online debugging and commissioning of PLC, HMI, robot, and related control programs.
