Job summary

Avid Bioservices, Inc. seeks a Sr. Automation Controls Engineer to ensure manufacturing processes and utilities run reliably. You will lead control system maintenance, installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting in a cGMP environment.

Responsibilities include collaborating with operations, QA, and vendors to optimize production, develop P&ID drawings, and support validation and manufacturing projects while adhering to FDA standards. Onsite schedule Monday–Friday, 8–5, with on‑call rotation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in an FDA/cGMP environment.
• Experience with DDC, DCS, PLCs, industrial networks, drives, motor controls, sensors, automation components, control instrumentation, valves, servo controls, SCADA and HMI troubleshooting.
• Familiar with process instrumentation and Air Handler HVAC systems.
• Strong programming standards and independent troubleshooting ability.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, QA, vendors and suppliers to maximize production effectiveness and optimize performance while lowering operating costs.
• Advance products from clinical development to commercial launch.
• Focus on continuous process improvement and documentation according to FDA standards.
• Maintain control systems, perform maintenance, troubleshoot, and conduct root cause analyses.
• Track and evaluate critical process data to recommend process improvement.
• Develop and maintain electrical and P&ID drawings.
• Support validation and manufacturing projects.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory and industry standards.
• Participate in inspections/audits and provide written responses as necessary.
• Adhere to FDA regulations, corporate safety policies, and other assigned tasks.
• Other tasks as assigned.
