Job summary

Hydrogen Group in Toledo, OH seeks a Senior Automation Controls Engineer for an initial 9-month contract, on-site. The role focuses on troubleshooting controls, improving production efficiency, and implementing equipment modifications to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Responsibilities include FAT/SAT validation, PLC/HMI/robot/SCADA programming, safety system validation, and training teams. 72-hour work weeks across 6am–6pm or 6pm–6am shifts.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of controls engineering experience or equivalent.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience integrating, commissioning, and troubleshooting high-volume manufacturing equipment.
• Advanced PLC programming experience using IEC 61131-3 languages (Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or Beckhoff platforms for standard and safety PLCs.
• HMI development with FactoryTalk View, Ignition, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of ANSI/RIA 15.06, OSHA, NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A.
• Experience with electrical schematics using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• Support equipment buy-offs, FAT, SAT, and safety validation.
• Reduce downtime and cycle times while improving quality and reliability.
• Develop, troubleshoot, and modify PLCs, HMIs, robots, SCADA, MES, and industrial networks.
• Maintain equipment programs, configurations, electrical documentation, and version control.
• Implement and validate safety systems for robots, conveyors, and manufacturing equipment.
• Configure industrial networks and support PLC-to-database communications.
• Train production and maintenance teams on operation and troubleshooting.
