Job summary

TJFACT is seeking an experienced Authored Works Review (Editor) to support the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. This onsite, full-time role manages the review and editing of public-facing materials, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with AP and command-style guidance.

The ideal candidate combines editorial excellence with experience in healthcare or regulated environments, coordinating with SMEs, legal counsel, and Public Affairs to deliver polished

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional editing, copyediting, or technical writing.
• Experience editing medical or military content.
• Strong command of AP Style and English grammar.
• Experience with healthcare communications and regulated environments.
• HIPAA/PHI safeguarding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end editorial lifecycle for public-facing materials.
• Develop and maintain editorial calendar and track review stages.
• Edit content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and AP style.
• Fact-check claims, statistics, medical information, sources.
• Coordinate with SMEs across clinical and administrative departments.
• Serve as liaison between authors, SMEs, legal, and Public Affairs.
• Support development and enforcement of organizational style.
• Manage final clearance and approvals with senior Public Affairs.
• Ensure HIPAA/PHI safeguarding in materials.
