Job summary

Financial Talent Group is seeking a Senior Auditor, SQMS, to support firm-wide quality management and uphold the System of Quality Management (SOQM). The role offers remote work with exposure to senior leadership and a broad range of standards such as SQMS Nos. 1–3 and SAS No. 146.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in public accounting, a CPA is highly preferred, and the ability to translate complex standards into practical policies while managing multiple priorities remotely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of public accounting experience in audit and/or attestation.
• At least 2 years of experience at the Senior level.
• Working knowledge of AICPA professional standards.
• Familiarity with SQMS Nos. 1, 2, and 3.
• Familiarity with SAS No. 146.
• Knowledge of applicable attestation standards.
• Strong understanding of the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Support the ongoing implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the System of Quality Management.
• Maintain quality objectives and identify new or changing quality risks.
• Evaluate changes in services and engagements that could create or modify quality risks.
• Help design, document, assign, and track responses to identified quality risks.
• Perform ongoing monitoring activities and periodic engagement inspections.
• Coordinate the selection of engagements and engagement partners for inspection.
• Work with internal and external inspectors.
• Evaluate inspection findings and determine whether quality deficiencies exist.
• Assess the severity and pervasiveness of identified deficiencies.
• Conduct root cause analyses to identify underlying quality issues.
• Develop and track remediation activities through completion.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of remediation efforts.
• Support the annual evaluation of the organization's SOQM.
• Prepare quality management reporting for leadership.
• Investigate and document potential independence matters and assist with resolution.
• Monitor compliance with the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and applicable state accountancy requirements.
• Perform client acceptance procedures and related research.
• Review higher-risk client acceptance and continuance matters.
• Perform or support Engagement Quality Reviews (EQRs).
• Maintain and update methodologies, engagement templates, checklists, policies, procedures, and technical guidance.
• Monitor new and amended professional standards and incorporate appropriate changes into methodology.
• Support consultation and differences-of-opinion processes.
• Monitor engagement documentation, archiving, and retention requirements.
• Evaluate resource competency and capacity against organizational quality objectives.
• Develop and deliver quality management and technical training.
• Monitor continuing professional education requirements.
• Evaluate third-party service providers and other resources relied upon by the organization.
• Communicate quality expectations, inspection findings, emerging issues, and professional standards updates to management.
