  • The Senior Auditor promotes the safety, permanency, and well-being of children and vulnerable adults, helping individuals achieve stability and strengthening families. This is achieved by performing professional administrative duties in planning, coordinating, organizing, and managing a professional auditing staff in conducting audits and evaluations of the administrative, financial, operational, and programmatic activities of a complex state agency with 4,000 employees and an annual budget of approximately $1.1 billion.
  • Conducts audits and/or supervises professional audit staff in the conducting of audits of the various accounting, financial, statistical, and program records of the Agency and/or providers of service for internal control, effectiveness, efficiency, and for compliance with state and federal regulations and requirements. These audits may include any or all of the following elements: 1) financial and compliance; 2) economy and efficiency; 3) program results; and 4) effectiveness
  • Prepares, reviews, and edits audit reports and workpapers. Recommends improvements in internal controls for compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Presides over the entry and exit conferences where necessary and appropriate.
  • Assists with the development and updating of the Agency-wide risk assessment.
  • Assists in establishing, updating, and revising audit guides, audit programs, or working paper formats. Will also conduct training to familiarize staff of all new developments resulting from any changes in established procedures.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and developments in federal and state laws, auditing standards, and regulations relative to all programs administered by the Agency.
  • Ensure all personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed of and will work to protect the Agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment, and data.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

A Bachelor's Degree in accounting and three (3) years of accounting or auditing experience.

A Master's Degree in accounting and one (1) years of accounting or auditing experience.

Five (5) years of risk-based auditing experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license. Normal work conditions are in an office either in the State Agency, a County DSS office, or the office of the Provider. Travel involved about 10% of the time. Overnight travel involved about 5% of time. Ability to transport workpapers and laptop computers - approximately 30 pounds - roll-cart provided.
