Job summary

University Audit at the University of Central Florida seeks an Audit Investigator III to conduct complex investigations involving financial fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct. The role requires independent management from intake to final reporting, with a focus on accountability and safeguarding university resources.

The ideal candidate will have experience in financial fraud investigations, accounting, auditing, or forensic analysis, and must obtain CFE within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience.
• Must obtain Certified Fraud Examiner designation within one year.
• Experience in complex financial fraud investigations preferred.
• Experience applying accounting, auditing, forensic accounting principles.
• Experience managing investigations and interviewing stakeholders.
• Experience using data analytics or case-management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex and sensitive investigations involving fraud, waste, abuse, employee misconduct, and violations of applicable laws, regulations, rules, and university policies.
• Independently manage investigations from planning to final reporting.
• Triage complaints and assess jurisdiction, risk, urgency, and action plans.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support appropriate complaint resolution.
• Prepare investigative reports and related correspondence per procedures.
• Provide backup support to investigations manager as needed.
• Maintain regular communication on progress and significant developments.
• Support fraud awareness and prevention initiatives and audits as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
