Job summary

Doeren Mayhew, a tax, assurance and advisory firm headquartered in Troy, Michigan, seeks an FIG – Financial Statement Audit Professional to plan, execute, review, and manage financial statement audits for financial institution clients, including credit unions and community banks.

Under the FIG Practice Leader, you will coach and develop staff, maintain client relationships, and contribute to engagement quality and profitability while staying current with professional standards and regulatory

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
Minimum 2+ years of relevant audit experience in public accounting.
CPA License preferred, CPA‑eligible or has a progressive plan in place toward passing the CPA exam.
Financial institution audit experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan, execute, review, and manage financial statement audit engagements for financial institution clients.
Serve as trusted advisor, exercise professional judgment on accounting matters.
Manage smaller engagements or sections of audits to meet budget.
Evaluate internal controls, audit programs, risk assessments, and engagement documentation.
Review audit workpapers, analytical procedures, financial statements, management letters, and client deliverables.
Research, analyze, and resolve accounting, auditing, and assurance matters.
Maintain proactive communication with clients and engagement team members.
Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to add value.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development activities as appropriate.
Maintain knowledge of professional standards, emerging laws and regs.
