Job description

Build your career in public accounting with greater flexibility, meaningful client relationships, and a path to leadership.

Are you an experienced audit professional ready for more ownership, direct client interaction, and room to grow? Weworski & Associates offers the opportunity to advance your public accounting career in an established CPA firm that values technical expertise, responsive client service, and professional development.

With a flexible hybrid schedule, direct access to firm leadership, and opportunities to mentor developing accountants, you can take the next step in your career while building the skills needed for future Supervisor and Manager responsibilities.

Why Consider Weworski & Associates?
  • Flexible Hybrid Work: Typically one day per week in the office, with additional in-office time during select busy periods.
  • Career Advancement: Develop your leadership capabilities and progress toward Supervisor and Manager-level responsibilities.
  • Direct Client Exposure: Build trusted relationships with clients and take an active role in managing audit engagements.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with experienced Managers and Partners in a firm of approximately 25 professionals.
  • Meaningful Ownership: Contribute to engagement planning, budgeting, audit quality, and client deliverables rather than focusing solely on individual assignments.
  • Manageable Travel: Approximately 10–15% travel, primarily to client locations, with much of the work performed remotely.
  • A Different Busy-Season Rhythm: June is typically the firm’s busiest month, offering a different schedule from the traditional January-to-April tax season.
What You’ll Do

As a Senior Audit Accountant, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality assurance services while developing your technical and leadership expertise.

  • Plan and perform financial statement audits, reviews, and other assurance engagements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, test internal controls, and execute substantive audit procedures.
  • Prepare and review audit workpapers, analyze account balances and transactions, and identify potential audit issues.
  • Develop clear, well-supported findings and recommendations in accordance with applicable professional standards.
  • Coordinate engagement timelines, manage client information requests, and help maintain engagement budgets.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, building relationships through effective communication and responsive service.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting professionals, helping strengthen team performance and technical development.
  • Collaborate with Managers and Partners to improve audit methodologies, maintain quality standards, and prepare for increased leadership responsibility.
What You’ll Bring
  • At least 4 years of accounting or auditing experience, with public accounting audit experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA license or successful completion of all four sections of the CPA exam.
  • Previous experience functioning as a Senior Accountant, In-Charge Auditor, or in a comparable public accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, auditing standards, financial statement audits, internal controls, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize competing deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent client communication skills and the ability to mentor developing accounting professionals.
  • Proficiency with accounting and audit software and general business technology.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% as required.
