Responsibilities

• Responds to requests for legal opinions regarding Florida's public records and open meetings laws.
• Processes public information or public records requests from media, lawyers, advocacy groups, and others.
• Identifies potential legal problems in the department's planning, operation and administration.
• Develops and presents curriculum on public records and open meetings laws.
• Represents the department in litigation involving public records or open meetings.
• Negotiates and mediates public records disputes.
• Reviews proposed legislation; assesses impact on department operations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
