The State of Florida, Department of Children and Families in Tallahassee seeks a Senior Attorney to provide legal opinions on public records and open meetings laws, and to process information requests from media, citizens, and state staff.

You will identify potential legal issues, advise department management, present training on relevant laws, participate in litigation, and ensure compliance with background checks and other requirements.

• Negotiates and mediates public records disputes between the department and public records requestors.
• Works with department personnel in reviewing proposed legislation which may effect the operation or administration of the department.
• Reviews existing statutes, rules or caselaw for purpose of proposing any remedial legislation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Attorney (less than 2 years of experience): $65,000 - $70,000
• Senior Attorney (2+ years of experience): $75,000 - $80,000

What you will do:
