Job summary

Lynker is seeking a specialized professional in atmospheric model verification to apply advanced verification methods for high‑resolution evaluation. You will collaborate with developers on RRFS, REFS, and WoFS to automate workflows while serving as a technical liaison on NBM and NDFD verification.

The ideal candidate has an MS in atmospheric sciences with 7+ years of numerical model analysis, strong Python in HPC UNIX environments, and proficiency with GRIB2, NetCDF, HDF, and BUFR.

Qualifications

• MS in atmospheric sciences or related field; 7+ years of numerical model analysis experience.
• Extensive Python experience in HPC UNIX environments for verification metrics and visualization.
• Proficiency with GitHub and meteorological data formats (GRIB2, NetCDF, HDF, BUFR).

Responsibilities

• Apply object-oriented verification methods (e.g., METplus MODE) for high-resolution model evaluation.
• Work with developers on RRFS, REFS, and WoFS to create automated verification workflows.
• Act as technical liaison between the Weather Prediction Center and EVU/OMD on NBM and NDFD verification.
