Zusammenfassung

Lynker is seeking a sharp Physical Scientist for High‑Resolution Regional Modeling for Atmospheric Rivers to support the EMC of NOAA/NCEP. The role focuses on developing high‑resolution regional modeling within the UFS for atmospheric rivers and their impacts on the U.S.

West Coast, with hybrid work 2 days in College Park, MD and 3 days from home. The ideal candidate will conduct experiments across PBL parameterizations, earth system model components, and verification using tools like MetPlus,

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree or higher in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, geophysics, applied mathematics, or a related physical science field.
• Advanced knowledge of physics parameterization for earth system modeling applications.
• Advanced skills in modern programming languages, e.g., Fortran and Python.
• Proficient with modern software development practices (GitHub/Git) and environment.
• Experience in UNIX environment and shell scripting; ability to run complex jobs.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly (oral and written).
• Familiar with data formats like NetCDF and GRIB2; experience analyzing large datasets.
