Job description

Hazen is seeking candidates for a Senior Associate position focused on structural and waterways engineering and project management. The candidate will be involved with a wide range of projects including planning, design, permitting, and construction of structures in the ‘water space’ (i.e., drinking water, wastewater, water resources, conveyance, canals, and ports). The candidate shall be capable of supervising junior staff and managing projects, as well as leading business development activities such as preparing proposals and presentations.

The position includes client development, project management, technical leadership, and staff mentoring in the Northeast and Midwest, primarily in Upstate NY and PA. Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required, with occasional travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

• More than 15 years of structural design experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one in New York State.
• Experience in analysis, design, and construction of environmental structures such as industrial buildings, pump stations, process basins, and treatment facilities.
• Leadership in structural design and construction administration for projects involving upgrades to wastewater, drinking water, and reclaimed water treatment plants.
• Experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, aluminum, and knowledge of applicable codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE) and structural analysis software.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Key role in infrastructure projects in the greater Buffalo area.

Educational Requirements:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering (with a Structural Concentration) or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
