Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in Philadelphia is seeking a disputes and investigations analyst to support teams navigating mass tort litigation, insurance recoveries, and complex financial analyses. You will contribute to forensic analysis, coverage reconstruction, and cost allocation modeling while coordinating with counsel, insurers, and other stakeholders.

You will work with senior professionals to develop analytical frameworks guiding litigation strategy, settlement administration, and insurance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, math, statistics, data science or similar field
  • Experience with SQL, Python and Microsoft Excel to manipulate, transform and analyze large data sets
  • Experience with SAS and/or R in addition to other statistical programming languages
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Microsoft PowerBI
  • Experience in a forensic and disputes consulting practice
  • Familiarity with Mass Tort liability estimation and settlement claim processing preferred
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Data Science or Business Administration preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective interpersonal skills - good team player with the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability and willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to meet client needs
  • Hybrid - Ability to work in a flexible hybrid work arrangement, part time in physical office and remote.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with compiling, analyzing, and documenting information in a dispute, legal settlement, insurance recovery matter, claims resolution program, or other financial matter
  • Contributing to the creation and revision of complex financial models and analyses, including claims analyses, allocation models, damages calculations, and settlement-related models
  • Reviewing and analyzing large data assets using Excel, SQL, Python, R, SAS or similar tools
  • Documenting analyses assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information used
  • Assisting with the drafting of reports and other client deliverables
  • Performing quality control review of reports and other client deliverables
  • Assisting with researching technical and industry specific issues
  • Developing and suggesting solutions to complex problems by thinking “outside the box”
  • Balancing multiple client projects and other responsibilities
  • Communicating proactively and presenting effectively to all levels of the engagement team

The Team

Within A&M, the Disputes and Investigations (DI) practice has grown into one of the most respected in the industry. Recognized by Global Arbitration Review and Who’s Who Legal as a leading independent expert practice, we advise corporations, law firms, and financial institutions on complex disputes, forensic investigations, and clai-ms-resolution programs across a range of industries. The Mass Torts team supports clients facing large-scale litigation and liability exposures by providing valuation, allocation, and recovery analyses that bridge the gap between financial data and legal strategy. Our professionals work at the intersection of claims administration, insurance coverage, and forensic accounting, quantifying losses, modeling settlement programs, and supporting recovery across insurance coverage programs. How You Will Contribute

You will support teams that help clients navigate the financial, operational, and insurance complexities of mass tort litigation and related recovery efforts. You will assist with forensic analysis, coverage reconstruction, and cost allocation modeling while coordinating with counsel, insurers, and other stakeholders. You will work with senior professionals to develop analytical frameworks that inform both litigation strategy, settlement administration, and insurance recovery. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data into clear analyses.

Thesalaryrange is $80,000- $110,000annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
