Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal Deutschland GmbH in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Disputes and Investigations Associate to support complex fraud investigations, forensic accounting, and litigation support. You will work with a team to resolve financial issues across a range of projects, developing analyses and client deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Working towards or completion of CPA, CFE, or CFF certifications.
  • 1-2 years of experience in audit or forensic and disputes consulting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective interpersonal skills - good team player under pressure.
  • Flexibility to accommodate client needs and office-based work.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and organize large data sets for investigations.
  • Assist with compiling and documenting information in disputes or accounting matters.
  • Contribute to complex financial models and analyses.
  • Document methodologies and sources for analyses.
  • Assist in drafting expert reports using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Perform quality control of expert reports and deliverables.
  • Develop solutions and think outside the box to resolve problems.
  • Balance multiple client projects and responsibilities.
  • Communicate findings clearly to the engagement team and clients.

How you will contribute

You will be working closely with a team to resolve complex matters that pose a threat or disruption to normal operations for our clients. You will support incisive fraud investigations, create forensic analysis, and provide litigation support.

You will be helping our clients and their counsel understand and resolve the financial impacts around their legal matters relating to complex accounting and financial issues across a wide range of projects involving economic disputes, claims, investigations of white-collar crime, forensic accounting and consulting, and post-acquisition disputes. Working as a partner to our clients by building consultative relationships you will develop an in-depth understanding of the client, the industry and the case to surface and address key issues, from the big picture to the smallest details. You will develop and communicate your analyses, findings, and insights to your team. Relying on your initiative and flexibility to deliver results in an agile and collaborative team environment, you will build strong relationships with clients, legal counsel, and expert witnesses. Some of the main responsibilities are:

  • Effectively gathering, analyzing, and sorting through large data sets that can sometimes be unorganized and incomplete
  • Assisting with compiling, analyzing, and documenting information in an investigation, dispute, or accounting related matter
  • Contributing to the creation of complex financial models and analyses
  • Documenting assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information used for analyses
  • Assisting with the drafting of expert reports and other client deliverables using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other applications
  • Performing quality control review of expert reports and other client deliverables
  • Assisting with researching technical and industry specific issueslis
  • Developing and suggesting solutions to complex problems by thinking “outside the box”
  • Balancing multiple client projects and other responsibilities
  • Communicating proactively and presenting effectively to all levels of the engagement team

Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $65,000 - $90,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
