Job summary

Travelers Canada seeks an Associate Managing Counsel to lead a team of lawyers in delivering high quality, proactive case handling for insured clients. The role emphasizes recruitment, retention and performance management to build a strong and cost-effective office.

You will independently handle a moderate to complex legal caseload, provide training, and collaborate with partners across the organization to ensure compliant, ethical and effective legal services.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international degree; graduate of an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in required states.
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions and depositions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the office within the line of business, practice group or satellite office.
• Ensure outstanding advocacy for clients and excellent results on own cases and those assigned to Counsel.
• Manage talent, including staffing, performance management, engagement, development and compensation.
• Assign cases to Staff Counsel, matching experience and skill level.
• Maintain caseload expectations and ensure timely completion of analyses, plans and reports.
