Americo Life, Inc. is hiring a full-time Associate General Counsel to join our team in Kansas City, MO.

This on-site role supports corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management across the organization. You will advise executive leadership, structure and negotiate high-impact contracts, oversee outside counsel, and help shape enterprise legal strategy while balancing risk with strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active license to practice law.
• 10–12 years of broad legal experience across in-house, law firm, regulatory, or insurance sectors.
• Strong ability to advise executives and manage outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Advise executive leadership on legal risk, strategy, and impact on business decisions.
• Interpret and apply state and federal regulations and legal frameworks.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate high-impact contracts (distribution, reinsurance, vendor).
• Lead strategy for disputes, regulatory examinations, investigations, and enforcement matters.
• Coordinate and oversee outside counsel to align with strategy and risk posture.
