Job summary

Thomas Young Group is seeking a Senior Associate to lead building enclosure investigations, manage projects, and work closely with clients across a range of property types in the Seattle area.

The role entails site visits, testing, reporting, and mentoring junior staff, with a hybrid schedule and opportunities to contribute to business development and the growth of the building enclosure practice.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in architecture, engineering, or construction.
• Experience with forensic or investigative building enclosure work is preferred.
• Strong report writing and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead building enclosure investigations from initial assessment through final reporting and repair strategy.
• Carry out and oversee site visits, testing, and detailed field investigations.
• Review construction documents to identify causes of failures or defects.
• Prepare clear, well supported reports with repair recommendations and cost considerations.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and delivery across multiple assignments.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients and build strong working relationships.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Support proposals, scopes, and budgeting as part of business development efforts.
• Work closely with consultants on drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Help grow the building enclosure practice in the Seattle market.

They are now looking to bring on a Senior Associate to lead building enclosure investigations, manage projects, and work closely with clients across a range of property types.

What you'll be doing:

• Lead building enclosure investigations from initial assessment through final reporting and repair strategy
• Carry out and oversee site visits, testing, and detailed field investigations

What we're looking for:

• Degree in Architecture or Engineering
• Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer required
• 15+ years of experience in architecture, engineering, or construction
• Experience with forensic or investigative building enclosure work is preferred
• Strong knowledge of facade systems, waterproofing, roofing, and cladding
• Solid understanding of how projects are built and administered on site
• Comfortable writing detailed technical reports and repair scopes
• Familiar with tools like Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
• Able to travel locally and regionally when needed
