Job summary

University of Utah’s Marriott Library seeks an Associate Dean for Learning and Engagement to lead learning initiatives, teaching, and faculty affairs. The role partners with senior leadership to advance teaching, research, and community engagement while guiding strategic programs and staff development.

The ideal candidate demonstrates administrative leadership, mentoring, and strong communication across diverse campus communities, with experience in academic libraries and governance.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Evidence of administrative leadership and tenure-track potential.
• Ability to work with diverse campus communities.
• Experience in teaching, learning, student engagement or user experience in a research library.

Responsibilities

• Shape executive decisions for library programs and strategy.
• Provide leadership for learning and engagement programs and staffing.
• Build partnerships with campus units such as Undergraduate Studies and Honors College.
• Align teaching and research services with University mission.
• Oversee faculty annual review, promotion and tenure processes.
• Engage in national/international professional conversations.
