Job summary

University of Washington Libraries invites applications for the Associate Dean, Research & Learning Services, at the rank of Associate Librarian or Librarian. The role reports to the Dean and leads eight departments with approximately 130+ staff across three UW campuses.

Hybrid work on campus and remote is eligible. We seek leaders committed to excellence in library service within a diverse academic community, with responsibilities spanning strategy, operations, and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years post-MLIS professional librarian experience.
• Substantial leadership experience in a large academic or research library.
• Ability to articulate and execute a vision aligned with institutional goals.

Responsibilities

• Advance and shape a shared strategic vision for Research & Learning Services.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse workforce; foster inclusive leadership.
• Collaborate with campus partners on digital initiatives, teaching innovation, and student success.
• Represent the Libraries on institution-wide committees and strategic initiatives.
