Senior Associate, Client Accounting Services

SUMMARY

The Senior Associate is responsible for supporting our clients in the areas of general accounting, financial reporting and analysis. The senior associate will be a primary contact with the clients he/she is assigned. The senior associate will be required to perform implementations and special projects or to manage monthly closings and other recurring CAS services or some of both.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completing/Managing month end close: Accounting analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts such as fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, debt, revenue recognition, etc.
  • Review accuracy of general accounting analysis and reconciliations performed by associates and accountants.
  • Carry‑out responsibilities in client cash management as required.
  • Step‑in and perform responsibilities of associates and accountants in transaction processing and reconciliations as required.
  • Oversee compliance with 1099 tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain and monitor client checklist to ensure that monthly closing and other recurring tasks are tracked and completed on a timely basis.
  • Prepare financial statements, including cash flow statements.
  • Prepare or assist managers in preparation of note disclosures when required.
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.
  • Prepare supplementary schedules and other management reports as required.
  • Coordinate and facilitate tax return preparation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate external financial statement audits.
  • Design financial reports and client dashboards.
CLIENT SERVICE
  • Identify client issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Track client regulatory filing requirements and ensure they are completed on time.
  • Review financials and accounting activities with the client.
  • Interact with third‑party constituents of clients as required.
  • Identify and document processes in accounting and financial management to strive for continuous improvement.
NEW CLIENT IMPLEMENTATIONS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS
  • Maintain and work from project plans.
  • Set up and configure for new clients and maintain for active clients.
  • Train staff and client personnel.
  • Implement third‑party interfaces such as bank portals, payroll processors and POS systems.
SUPERVISION
  • Review work of accountants and associates and provide feedback through review notes.
  • Actively work with accountants and associates in training and skills development.
  • Participate in firm coaching program as requested.
  • Develop and deliver CAS training programs as requested.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in accounting or business management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience and demonstrated success in a staff position.
  • CPA certification or similar professional certification desired.
  • Knowledgeable in generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience in Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, and/or Xero desired.
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multi‑task and to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime when required during month‑end close and special projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Team player with a positive "can‑do" approach.
  • Willingness to gain a general knowledge of firm products and services in CAS, and other practice areas.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Occasional same day travel for work at clients’ offices using a personal vehicle.
  • Able to work moderate overtime throughout the year with heavier overtime required during certain business cycles.
