Job summary

Alexander Chapman is partnering with a leading biotechnology investment firm to hire an Associate/Principal for its venture investment team. The role focuses on identifying and evaluating private biotech opportunities across the investment lifecycle, including sourcing, science and commercial diligence, deal execution and portfolio management.

You will build relationships with founders, executives, scientists and investors, develop investment theses and present recommendations, and support

Qualifications

• Experience in biotech venture capital or related investment roles
• Strong understanding of biotechnology and ability to diligence underlying science
• Demonstrated sourcing ability and biotech network
• MD/PhD/PharmD or similar advanced scientific training is advantageous but not required
• Entrepreneurial, highly analytical and comfortable in a lean investment environment

Partnering with a leading biotechnology investment firm seeking an Associate / Principal to join its dedicated venture investment team.

The role will focus on identifying and evaluating private biotechnology investment opportunities across the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, scientific and commercial diligence, deal execution and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate private biotech investment opportunities
• Conduct detailed scientific and commercial diligence
• Assess biological targets, therapeutic modalities and clinical programs
• Build relationships with founders, executives, scientists and investors
• Develop investment theses and present recommendations
• Support transaction execution and portfolio management
• Work closely with portfolio companies, with potential board exposure

Ideal Background

• Experience in biotech venture capital, life sciences investing, crossover investing or a related investment role
• Strong understanding of biotechnology and ability to diligence underlying science
• Demonstrated sourcing ability and/or an established biotech network
• Prior venture investing experience preferred
• Scientific background in biotechnology, medicine, chemistry, pharmacology or a related discipline
• MD, PhD, PharmD or other advanced scientific training is advantageous but not required
• Entrepreneurial, highly analytical and comfortable operating in a lean investment environment
