Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation in North Carolina is seeking a Senior Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Clinton Construction Unit in Division 3. You will administer highway construction contracts, oversee engineering inspections, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure projects meet NCDOT standards and safety requirements.

Leadership will be needed to supervise up to 30 technicians and guide staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
Ability to supervise Construction Engineering Inspection personnel.
Experience in contract administration and project oversight.
Professional Engineer licensure may be required.

Responsibilities

Administer highway construction contracts and monitor project expenditures.
Oversee engineering oversight of major highway construction projects.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and prepare project correspondence.
Manage up to 30 technicians and provide guidance on contract interpretation.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and erosion control practices; oversee utility relocations.
Review design plans and resolve constructability issues; monitor contractor performance.
