Job summary

The Isabella County Prosecutor's Office is seeking a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney who excels at courtroom advocacy, legal research, and writing. The role offers independent decision-making within office philosophy and the chance to learn from experienced trial attorneys and support staff.

The successful candidate will handle felony and misdemeanor cases, negotiate pleas, prepare motions, advise law enforcement, and help prepare witnesses for trial, with pathways for career advancement

Qualifications

• 2 years minimum prosecution or criminal defense experience required.
• Graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Michigan.
• Member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar.
• A valid Michigan driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Review and authorize requests for warrants; determine the appropriate charge(s) and prosecute criminal felony and misdemeanor cases, including neglect/abuse when applicable.
• Negotiate cases to reach a plea agreement and prepare all necessary legal motions and defense motions.
• Advise law enforcement on legal issues and prepare witnesses for trial; try cases before a judge or jury.
