Job summary

Plona Partners seeks an experienced Assistant General Counsel in Washington, DC to serve as a trusted advisor within the Office of General Counsel. The role intersects professional responsibility, ethics, conflicts, regulatory compliance, investigations, risk management, employment, privacy, cybersecurity, and firm operations.

Ideal candidate has 7+ years of legal experience, a JD, and active DC Bar membership.

Qualifications

7+ years of progressively responsible legal experience.
Sophisticated understanding of risks facing major law firms and professional services organizations.
Active DC Bar membership in good standing.
JD from an accredited law school.
Experience analyzing conflicts, confidentiality and privilege issues.
Experience in a law firm OGC or internal risk function preferred.

Responsibilities

Advise on conflicts of interest, confidentiality, privilege, ethical walls, waivers, and client/matter acceptance.
Identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and develop strategies, policies, controls, and guidance.
Manage sensitive disputes, subpoenas, investigations, and other legal processes.
Conduct and support privileged internal investigations and advise leadership on corrective actions.
Draft and negotiate vendor, technology, confidentiality, data protection, and other agreements.
Partner with People Operations on employment-related matters and investigations.
Collaborate with Information Security on privacy and cybersecurity matters.
Develop guidance and training for attorneys and business professionals.
