Job summary

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville seeks a Senior Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives to provide executive leadership for high-priority projects and strategic planning across academic, clinical, and administrative units.

Reporting to the Dean, the role partners with USC Provost, Prisma Health–Upstate, and external partners to advance accreditation readiness, program evaluation, and institutional effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required in a relevant field.
• 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in medical education or academic administration.
• Knowledge of LCME/SACSCOC accreditation standards and processes.
• Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for high-priority institutional initiatives and special projects.
• Liaise with USC Provost’s Office, Prisma Health–Upstate, and external partners on academic policy and strategy.
• Lead accreditation readiness, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Manage cross-functional projects and ensure alignment with the Dean’s strategic priorities.
• Coordinate strategic planning, dashboards, and executive communications for leadership.
