Job summary

Consor Engineers is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations, close processes, and internal controls. The role reports to the Controller and drives accuracy, timeliness, and strategic finance initiatives across the organization.

Ideal candidate has CPA, 15+ years of progressive accounting, and strong GAAP expertise; will leverage Deltek and AI tools to improve efficiency. The position offers remote work for ETZ, with leadership across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• CPA required
• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience including public or corporate accounting
• Strong expertise in general ledger management, month-end close, and US GAAP
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data modeling)
• Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint and BlackLine
• Exposure to government contracting / FAR (preferred)
• Experience with M&A transactions and integrations (preferred)
• Familiarity with AI tools, RPA, or advanced analytics in finance (preferred)
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development abilities
• Ability to lead close processes and drive process improvements
• Experience supporting external audits and internal controls compliance

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely and accurate results
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules
• Maintain general ledger integrity and GAAP compliance
• Partner with Controller to strengthen processes, internal controls, and close procedures
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports
• Analyze financial results and KPIs to identify trends and risks
• Coordinate audit schedules and support external audits
• Assist with policy implementation and monitoring
• Support M&A activity due diligence and integration
• Leverage Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint, BlackLine, and other finance tech to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Identify and implement automation and AI-enabled solutions in finance
• Lead, mentor, and develop staff accountants and accounting specialists
• Foster a high-performing, collaborative accounting team
• Collaborate with FP&A, operations, HR to support company objectives
• Assist Controller with special projects and system implementations
• Act as backup to Controller on accounting, reporting, and compliance
