Overview

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Remote Assistant Controller. In this key role, you will lead the Accounting department's efforts in managing post-award grants, contracts, and the procure-to-pay lifecycle. Your leadership will ensure that all operations comply with regulatory requirements and establish a robust framework for financial reporting. Collaborating with various university departments, you will play an essential role in enhancing financial strategy and ensuring operational excellence. This position not only drives compliance but also significantly contributes to the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and oversee accounting operations related to post-award grants, contracts, and the procure-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement strategic financial initiatives.
  • Prepare and review complex financial reports, including grant and contract financials.
  • Develop and validate management reports for financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate preparation of journal entries and reports related to grants and contracts.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams for integrated financial operations.
  • Serve as a liaison during internal and external audits.
  • Participate in annual audits and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, accounting, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial accounting within a college/university or nonprofit setting.
  • At least 5 years’ supervisory experience in a complete financial statement process.
  • CPA preferred and experience with Workday finance/grants is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
