Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an Assistant Controller for a Dallas-based Residential Real Estate company on the ownership side. This role oversees the accounting function, leads a small team, and ensures timely GAAP financial reporting across a growing portfolio of properties.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics, 7–10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience—ideally in property management—and a proven track record in managing teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics required; CPA/MBA preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, ideally in property management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, consolidation, internal controls, and external reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll, and cash management.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff with training and growth opportunities.
• Prepare financial statements, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate with external auditors.
• Support budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses; provide leadership with insights.
• Improve month-end close processes as portfolio grows.
• Collaborate with property management teams on reporting.
• Monitor intercompany transactions and eliminations.
• Contribute to cross-functional committees and ad hoc analyses.
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
